--------------------------------
A late goal by substitute and league debutant Ana Wagner clinched the points for the Blues. Chelsea who dominated the game but again failed to take their chances nearly threw it away when an early Heather Gravett strike was wiped out 7 minutes from time with Langford’s only real effort on goal. A fine 1st half performance saw the blues go in at half time a goal to the good, when really it could have been 3 or 4. With the 2nd half continuing with missed chances to seal the game it was Langford that looked like they had taken a point. But 16-year-old Ana Wagner had a different idea. With literally her first touch she broke through the Langford defence and drilled her shot into the net.
br> GEORGE’S COMMENT:
A very pleasing performance and a great win. I was particularly pleased for Ana Wagner who came on and scored a great goal to give us a well-deserved 3 points. We had to make several changes today due to injuries and the girls that came in did themselves proud. Amber Cooke and Debbie Carey did really well, as did Clare Stevens standing in for injured Keeper Siobhan Chamberlain. It was a day when everyone worked really hard and everybody played superb. We now have one game left before the County Cup Final against Fulham, and a win against Enfield will see us finish in the top half of the table.
